About the Book: Odie O’Banion remembers 1932 when he was 12. He and his brother, Albert, were the only white students at Lincoln Indian Training School. Odie and Albert are orphans and at the mercy of Mrs. Brickman (who students call “The Black Witch”) After a protector at the school dies tragically the two take off down river with two other “vagabonds.” The story is a remarkable search for home and will warm your heart.
About the Author: William Kent Krueger is the author of 20 published novels – including 18 in the Cork O’Connor series. He received the Edgar Award for his stand-alone novel Ordinary Grace, and is now back with a book reminiscent of Huckleberry Finn.
